Most people like the picture when they see it - many believe it
is a manipulation - but it's a photo from the central Copenhagen,
taken from an airplane.
Not a trick photo
Most people are surprised that it's a real photo and not a picture
created on a computer.
The idea came when I was working with the - "Copenhagen seen from
above." project. I often prefer to work with a tele lens, even for
landscapes, because I like the drama and intensity the telephoto
shots provide.
So when I started with the pictures to the Copenhagen book, I knew
that tele lens photos would be a significant part of the work. This
gave some initial problems with vibrations but I found some
settings that worked, and meanwhile had the idea for the picture of
potato rows been formed in my head. Now it was jest just getting
the picture.
I would like to have the light evenly distributed, and no streets
should be seen between the rows. Therefore, I needed the pilot to
very precise with both height and distance. The plane travels at
150 km/h, so we would only be at the exact position a fraction of a
second. Fortunately, that's enough for a photo and although I had
to try several times before I had the picture it was certainly
worth the effort. I had a picture from the central part of
Copenhagen, which have surprised thousands of people who have seen
it in the gallery.
